Ask about fly fishing internet radio has an excellent podcast interview with fly tier and fly shop owner Charlie Craven.
As you might expect Charlie Craven is full of great fly tying tips. He has reportedly tied almost a million flies in his life and has written or helped write and photograph a number of great books on the subject including Charlie Craven’s Basic Fly Tying.
Clocking in at over an hour the podcast is filled with many very nitty gritty detailed tips for tying. I liked his tips for tying parachute wings and hackles, as well as his gear recommendations. I don’t think I will be switching to wrapping with my left hand though, eventhough he seems to think it can help. I’ve got way too much muscle memory baggage for that.
