I spent Saturday evening on a private gravel pit with a friend and my oldest son.
The evening started out slow with only a pair of fish to hand in the first hour. But apparently even when the action picked up it was slower than normal. Even in slower than normal mode this place was fine for me.
By the time the sun dipped below the edge of the pit wall the fish started gobbling up our poppers on every other cast.
We took turns handing the bent rods to my son to reel in.
The fish were cookie cutter large mouth in the 12″ range due to overpopulation but fun none-the-less.
Top water is where it’s at.
